ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT STATEMENT

The Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) process has started for the Ledcor South Maui Properties and Improvements per Chapter 343, Hawaiʻi Revised Statutes (HRS) and Title 11, Chapter 200.1, Hawaiʻi Administrative Rules (HAR).

EIS Preparation Notice

  • Start of the EIS process.
  • Purpose: Gather input on issues to be studied in the Draft EIS.
  • The EIS Preparation Notice (EISPN) was published by the State of Hawai`i Office of Planning and Sustainable Development's Environmental Review Program (ERP) in the December 8, 2022 edition of The Environmental Notice. 
  • The EIS Scoping Meeting was held on  December 15, 2022 at 5:00-6:30 PM at the Malcolm Center (1305 North Holopono Street, Suite 5, Kīhei, Hawaiʻi 96753).
  • The public comment period was extended from its original 30-day comment period to February 7, 2023 in response to input received at the December 15, 2022, scoping meeting. The extended deadline has now closed. Comments received during the public comment period will be included within and addressed in the Draft EIS.​​

Draft EIS

  • Discusses potential impacts & mitigation measures.
  • Includes all technical studies.
  • The first 45-day public comment period started on February 23, 2024.
  • The second 45-day public comment period ended on May 23, 2024.

Final EIS

  • Incorporates all Draft EIS comments.
  • Final EIS fulfills the requirements of the HRS Chapter 343 Environmental Review Process.
  • The Final EIS was deemed accepted by the operation of law (HAR Section 11-200.1-28(e)(2)(B)) on April 1, 2025.
